Why do Leader Weeks matter?

As first-generation students, our Hammies face the responsibility of being the first in their family to obtain a college education -- not having a familial example doesn't mean our students have to feel like they're alone.

Leader Weeks are the one, official time each year that our HamFam truly comes together. These changemakers connect with peers to form lifelong friendships and bond over knowing they're not alone in their struggles. Furthermore, Leader Weeks allow Hammies to forge connections with the Hammie Network of Support: staff, volunteers, and mentors, all dedicated to their success.

Leader Weeks are one of the strongest tools at our disposal in combatting imposter syndrome, empowering persistence through college, and affirming our Scholar's incredible agency and power to shape their futures.

What is a Leader Week?

Leader Weeks are the series of leadership conferences Alexander Hamilton Scholar's Empowerment Program uses to bridge each year of curriculum. Each is designed to meet our Scholars at critical transition points: before university, to university, during university, and beyond to professional or academic paths.
